The Enchanted Forest event takes place every Autumn at Faskally Woods about 3 miles from Kinnaird. It is a must see event for locals and visitors to the area.
The experience begins in the centre of Pitlochry as you journey to the woods. As Perthshire is know as Big Tree Country the tree filled wood forest at Loch Dunmore makes the perfect backdrop for the event. Trees are lit up with an array of colours and light effects (a different theme each year) with music and pop up points of interest along the tree lined trail.
The wood is full of a variety of different trees - oak trees, silver birch, majestic Scots pine trees, Douglas fir trees, Ash, Sycamore, the ancient Yew tree, Horse Chestnut trees and many more. Take a stroll through the forest and you will see the many trees in a totally different light!
The Hermitage at Dunkeld (just 12 miles south of Pitlochry) is home to some of the tallest trees in the UK so go and enjoy an autumn walk through the many species of trees, gather some pine cones and enjoy the autumn woodland walks at their best.
Pitlochry and ighland Perthshire always looks magical at this time of year with the darker nights, twinkling lights, starry skies and autumn colours.
I have just returned from my second stay at Kinnaird, last year myself and my husband stayed in the cottage and this year we stayed in one of the wooden lodges. We were greeted warmly by Andy who explained about the hot tub and wood burner and how to work the heating etc which was great. The lodge itself has everything and more that you would need for a relaxing stay here and was extremely comfortable. It was lovely on our last night that it snowed whilst we were in the hot tub and the log burner was lovely to come back into. Very private area and outstanding views. We walked down into Pitlochry on the Saturday morning which was lovely to wander in and out of the little gift shops. We visited the Moulin Inn for dinner on the Saturday night which has great food and good value for money and our initial plan was to go back down for dinner on the Sunday night also but to be honest the lodge was so comfortable we really just wanted to stay in and enjoy the views and luxury of our accomodation. Well done to Andy and Jane for yet again providing us with a wonderful weekend and lovely memories. Would not hesitate to book again. DebbieL987 Trip Advisor reviewer
"Great Place" Went as a couple for a romantic get away. We were very lucky with surprisingly good weather in Feb, and we the only lodge occupied for the 3 nights we spent there. Easy enough to find and clear instructions given via email beforehand - as get settled into the lodge and we'll pop in and show you some of the features. Yvonne came to show us about the fire and talk through the hot tub use. She was very nice and helpful with tips of walks and places to visit - and very approachable, though we had no further contact (as in totally unobtrusive!) The cabin itself was very nice - good central heating system, comfortable sitting area and nice bedroom. The outside hot tub was fantastic, even in cold weather we made great use of it. We took a few drives out to surrounding areas, and went on a few walks. And plenty to visit in the area. In the evenings we would walk down to the local pub 5-10 mins or Pitlochry itself 10-15 mins. All the places we went to were very nice and welcoming, plenty of open fires etc. The walk at night was no problem at all - partly along a quiet road, and there is a torch provided in the lodge which we found useful for warning the occasional passing car. All in all we had a great time - great lodge and hot tub, great location, and plenty of things to keep you occupied, or quiet peaceful space to relax in. Chris from Glasgow
